Misdirected Machismo

EDITORIAL NOTE: THE CITY HAS REMOVED THE OFFENSIVE SPECIAL EFFECTS FROM THE NEW POLICE WEBSITE SINCE THE POSTING OF THIS PIECE ON SOUTH EUCLID OVERSIGHT. THE LINK BELOW NO LONGER FEATURES A HAIL OF GUNFIRE AND BULLET HOLES.
PLEASE NEGOTIATE THIS POST BY FOLLOWING THE DIRECTIONS IN BLUE.....

NEXT- PLEASE CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING.......

  • South Euclid Oversight fully supports, and appreciates the majority of the efforts of the South Euclid Police Department. However, the birth of their new website featuring dramatic special effects including simulated automatic weapon fire may just be a tad over the top. It is unfortunate that the caliber of legislation being unleashed on the city crime wave initiated by toy guns doesn't really project such a fierce display of machismo.

FINALLY- CLICK ON THE ARTICLE BELOW TO VIEW THE TEXT......

This legislation will, no doubt, have the same insignificant impact on reducing crime, as the Window Treatment legislation affected the value of the Housing Stock.

Below is a link to WOXY.COM where there is some interesting reaction to the original display of brute force portrayed by the new police website as it appeared at that time:

Another Baffling Decision

Please click on the article below to view full size. After reading this story, several questions come to mind. If this position is truly needed, why hire a person who seems to lack the qualifications required for being a housing inspector? It appears Building Commissioner Paul Kowalczyk will not be overseeing the redevelopment of Cedar Center considering the Council unanimously approved the hiring of Burgess and Niple for this task.

Speaking of Building Commissioner Kowalczyk, has his job performance genuinely been equal to his significant salary of $78,280 plus benefits? Please click on the following links below to view other similar topics previously discussed at South Euclid Oversight:

The creation of this position further indicates that priorities at City Hall are grossly mismanaged. Would this salary amount have been better spent on other needs?

Irresponsible Delays

Posted below are information requests sent to the City of South Euclid that have been ignored as of this post.

"The liberties of a people never were, nor ever will be, secure, when the transactions of their rulers may be concealed from them...To cover with the veil of secrecy the common routine of business, is an abomination in the eyes of every intelligent man." - Patrick Henry

The Ohio General Assembly enacted both the Ohio Public Records Act and the Open Meetings Act, known collectively as the state's "Sunshine Laws." The Ohio Supreme Court has ruled that public records are the people's records and that anyone has the right to inspect them.
