How much of the taxpayer's money did it cost to purchase this full-page color ad in the January/February edition of Northern Ohio Live magazine? What purpose did this ad serve? No other municipality had an advertisement in this issue. This is not consistent with keeping expenses down.

I WOULD DISAGREE WITH YOUR OPINION,OR DISSATISFACTION,THAT THE CITY PLACED A FULL PAGE ADD IN NORTHERN OHIO LIVE.ADVERTISING,AND PROMOTING SOUTH EUCLID IS EXACTLY WHAT THE CITY SHOULD BE DOING.THIS MONEY IS WELL SPENT.TELL PEOPLE WHAT THIS CITY HAS TO OFFER.HIGHLIGHT AND INFORM THE PEOPLE AS TO WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER IN OUR CITY.AS DIFFICULT A TASK AS THAT MAY BE.
BETTER TO SPEND THE MONEY EXPLOITING OUR VIRTUES THAN SPEND IT ON DUBIOUS HOUSING SURVEYS,
WI-FI IN THE PARKS,P.O.S. INSPECTIONS,PSEUDO-WETLANDS,
PLAYGROUNDS OF (IM)POSSIBILITIES,
PURCHASING CEDAR CENTER.......
NEED I SAY MORE?
THIS IS ONE EXPENDITURE THAT I CAN APPROVE OF.AS MUCH AS I ABHOR THE WAY OUR CITY SPENDS OUR TAX DOLLARS,THIS EXPENSE I CAN FULLY SUPPORT.ACTUALLY,THEY SHOULD SPEND MORE ON PROMOTING THE BENEFITS, LIFESTYLE,AVAILABILITY OF THE WIDE RANGE OF HOUSING (YES MOE,FROM POST WW2 BUNGALOWS TO CUTTERS CREEK),GOOD SCHOOLS,AND THE GOOD PEOPLE THAT LIVE HERE.GOD BLESS ALL OF US THAT LIVE HERE AND ENDURE THE BEHAVIOUR OF THE CLOWNS WE ELECT.WE ARE DAMN GOOD PEOPLE.
THIS IS A GOOD COMMUNITY.A DIVERSE COMMUNITY,A HARD WORKING,MORAL,RELIGIOUS,
CATHOLIC,JEWISH,MUSLIM,BLACK,WHITE,IRISH,ITALIAN,RUSSIAN,EVERYBODY WELCOME,EVERYBODY RESPECTED,EVERYBODY SEEKING THE "AMERICAN DREAM" COMMUNITY.AND DON'T FORGET THOSE OF US JUST LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO HANG OUT,A LOCAL NEIGHBORHOOD BAR.A PLACE TO MEET OTHERS,TO "MINGLE",TO CONVERSE,SHARE IDEAS,TO LEARN ABOUT OUR FELLOW MAN.MAYBE MEET OUR FUTURE WIFE(AS I DID,YES IN A LOCAL BAR,AND 25 YRS LATER WE ARE STILL HERE).
IN OTHER WORDS,YES,PROMOTE OUR FAIR CITY,AND AS WE DO THIS,REFLECT ON ALL THE GOOD WE HAVE TO OFFER AS A COMMUMNITY,AND REALIZE THAT AS OUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES YOU SHOULD REFLECT AND EXEMPLIFY THOSE QUALITIES,MORALS,AND BELIEFS THAT MAKE US THE BEST PEOPLE THAT YOU WOULD WANT TO LIVE WITH,RAISE KIDS WITH,HANG OUT AND PARTY WITH.
PRETTY TALL ORDER...NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.
DESPITE ALL THE ANGST,THE DOOM,GLOOM,UNCERTAINTY OF WHAT LIES AHEAD OF US,THIS IS OUR HOME.
AND TO PROMOTE OUR HOME,TO ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO CHECK US OUT,TO COME LIVE WITH US,TO BRING THEIR BEST,TO MAKE US STRONGER,MORE DIVERSE,MORE EDUCATED,OUR CHILDREN MORE TOLERANT,SMARTER,TO GIVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITIES WE NEVER HAD.
IF ONLY OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS,I CANT BRING MYSELF TO CALL THEM "REPRESENTATIVES",BECAUSE THEY REALLY DON'T REPRESENT US,WOULD CONCENTRATE ON WHAT REALLY MAKES UP A GOOD COMMUNITY,
STOP TRYING TO SCREW US OUT OF EVERY PENNY THEY CAN GET,AND WORK ON WHAT MAKES A CITY A STRONG,ATTRACTIVE,DESIREABLE PLACE TO LIVE THEY WOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT FORECLOSURES,RETAIL INVESTMENT,TAXES....
AGAIN,STRONG CITY SERVICES,POLICE,FIRE,TAX BENEFITS,BUSINESS FRIENDLY,GET RID OF THE GANG BANG,RIF-RAF,(THIS MEANS PARENTS,SINGLE PARENTS,AUNTS,
UNCLES,STEP UP,AND START KICKING THESE KIDS ASSES WHEN THEY GET OUT OF LINE)AND THAT IS A WHOLE OTHER TOPIC THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AT A LATER TIME....
IN SHORT,PROMOTE US YES,BY ALL MEANS....ALL THE OTHER CRAP.....
LET IT GO...NO BUYING HOUSES,NO RETAIL DEVELOPMENT,(LEAVE IT TO THE EXPERTS),NO MORE PLAYGROUNDS,
NO WI-FI,NO AIRPORTS,ENOUGH ALLREADY YOU CLOWNS!
KEEP US SAFE,KEEP OUR SEWERS CLEAR,ROADS SALTED,MAKE CRIMINALS FEAR OUR CITY.MAKE US PROUD YOU BASTARDS,NOT ASHAMED.DO THE JOB YOU WERE ELECTED TO DO! SERVE THE PEOPLE,NOT YOUR EGO.
NO SKYSCRAPERS,NO CASINOS,NO MORE WATER PARKS,
I have to say, I have no problem with the city advertising itself - we need good residents moving into the city.
I *do* have a problem with things like the water park, Playground of Possibilities, wireless internet, etc.
I would rather see the city advertise like this to keep our name out there and to attract young professionals rather than spend money on frivolous projects such as those.
Cleveland Heights, Shaker Heights and all do it, why shouldn't we?
I agree 100% *EXCEPT* for one thing. If the city does not have the money to provide the services they were elected to do (which should be their primary concern and responsibility)they should *NOT* be spending it on advertising at this time. I'm fine with spending money on advertising when and if they have extra money in the till but not until other fiscal responsibilites have been met.
