While you're asking questions .. why haven't the last 3 months (give or take) of council minutes been posted, even to their fancy new (aka: how much did it cost this time?) website.
I'll cut them some slack for the new website - it's a huge improvement over the abortion they had before. It sure would be nice to see minutes posted on a *timely* basis, wouldn't it?
Also, would it kill them to implement a mailing list to notify of meetings/special events?

Look here, this sure ain't rocket science. If they manage to drive half of the population out of South Euclid the'll just double the taxes. Oh yeah, and give themselves raises so they don't have to feel that effect.
I don't know. You say that citizen's comments are irrefutable. What makes them irrefutable? Those are strong words. Cities all over Greater Cleveland are dealing with the same issues.
Irrefutable? The use of that word is a bit misleading, don't you think? What supports their opinion being irrefutable? What makes these people experts? They are allowed to have an opinion. They are allowed to not like having a home demolished and have an empty lot across from them, and they are certainly allowed to express their opinion. However, data and facts from all over the country indicate that vacant homes are much more debilitating than a green lot where a vacant home used to stand. "Vacant homes have a debilitating effect on neighborhoods and often lead to reduced property values, blight, and neighborhood decay," HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan the said in a statement.
Thank you for your opinion regarding the controversial demolition of structurally sound homes in South Euclid. However you’ve made a mistake. This post “Citizen Monologue” has nothing to do with what you refer to. You were in attendance at the city council meeting this past Monday, January 11, 2010. SEO has not yet posted the video of the residents with a genuine concern about their neighborhood and a “rush to crush” mentality by city officials. We’ll get to that.
SEO still supports the irrefutable analysis of “Citizen Monologue.”

I appreciate this coverage even though I don't live in SE.
Could I suggest that the camera be once turned on the speaker in instances where council meetings are hearing citizen concerns?
The mic picked up paper movement over the speakers voice obscuring his words.
Cheers to all you anonymous posters. Come on out and say who you are. Stand with your words. Anonymous never changed anything and won't. People did and will make change. Open and transparent.
Thanks for your comments Susan. We intentionally don’t turn the camera on the citizens at the microphone. We feel it could be intimidating to those who want to comment. It is the same reason people can leave their comments anonymously. We want to eliminate any possibility of retaliation.
On the other hand, it would go a long way to further transparency if all city meetings were recorded and broadcast online or on a cable channel similar to what occurs at other cities. We don’t have the resources to replay the meetings in their entirety, so we’ve elected to keep the speakers out of view for now. If we were able to show everyone that came to the microphone each time it may be different. There are many restraints associated with the free format we use.
