Another Baffling Decision

Please click on the article below to view full size. After reading this story, several questions come to mind. If this position is truly needed, why hire a person who seems to lack the qualifications required for being a housing inspector? It appears Building Commissioner Paul Kowalczyk will not be overseeing the redevelopment of Cedar Center considering the Council unanimously approved the hiring of Burgess and Niple for this task.

Speaking of Building Commissioner Kowalczyk, has his job performance genuinely been equal to his significant salary of $78,280 plus benefits? Please click on the following links below to view other similar topics previously discussed at South Euclid Oversight:

The creation of this position further indicates that priorities at City Hall are grossly mismanaged. Would this salary amount have been better spent on other needs?

If the building department guy cannot do his job they should get rid of him instead of throwing away more money on ANOTHER unqualified person!

So this person previously worked for a major insurance firm in an area that had nothing to do with housing and is the owner of a small toy design firm. How exactly is she qualified to manage a housing inspection program (and at $63,000 a year)? I'm equally unqualified for the position and will do it for $53,000.

Hmmm, maybe Ms. Martin was a big time Welo supporter. Obviously she isn't the best qualified candidate around. Looks like cronyism to me.

Why did the city hire a Housing Manager now in March if we will not know until November if the city's point of sale inspection program will be approved by the voters.

So if the Point of Sale inspection program is not approved, will the city let the Housing Manager go or will they keep her on the payroll, even though the job she was hired for is gone.

If she is overseeing the staff of housing inspectors, what is our building comissioner doing with the extra time he now has on his hands.

Why did our council people back this? Are they watching out for our best interest.
