As recently as June 2007, city officials claimed there were not sufficient funds to maintain the city ball fields. In March 2008, the Sun Messenger reported that South Euclid boasts of a hefty "cash reserve."
Which account are we to trust?

The Mayor and all the city Council members were given a big raise. They were able to find plenty of money for that!
How appalling! South Euclid claims to be such a wonderful place to live. Oh so worried about folks' window treatments, ice cream trucks and the ever-present THREAT of toy guns - and they DON'T HAVE A PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT??? Sorry, City Administration, that's totally unacceptable. The city should look after all of it's parks and either hire a full-time staff for maintenance or contract it as needed. There's simply NO EXCUSE for run-down baseball fields in a such a boastful city.
FOR SHAME SOUTH EUCLID! Get some balls (for your baseball teams, that is ● wink ● wink ●)
I thought I heard about a $4,000,000 surplus! Fix a field or two!
