Hope You're Sitting Down For This One

If you have never viewed any other video on South Euclid Oversight, this is the one to watch.

South Euclid City Council held a Budget Hearing on February 21st, 2009. One of the many items on the agenda was the proposed $15,000 pay increase for the Community Center Director.

Pay close attention to the discussion as it unfolds. Ward 4 Councilwoman Jane Goodman questions the amount, but caves under pressure from others and eventually makes a suggestion to shave a mere $2,500 off the exorbitant amount. Councilwoman-At Large Sunny Simon says, “…I’m a little skeptical about that kind of increase in today’s climate…”
WHAT?!?! A little skeptical?!

Where is the outrage from our elected officials regarding this preposterous proposal?!

Also, observe Council President/ Ward 2 Councilman/ Finance Committee Chairman, Moe Romeo as he attempts to justify this insanity by saying:

  • When the Community Center Director was hired, the salary was “extremely low.”
  • He also falsely reports that the salary for this position held by this individual for 3 years has only increased 3% in that time period. The facts are that in 2007 the salary for this job was $40,000 plus benefits. The 2008 rate of pay was $45,000 plus benefits which reflects a raise of approximately 12.5%.

$60K for a director of a community center that has been employed in the job for 3 yrs. planning activities for seniors. Interesting. I'll do it for $50K.

Nice....a 33% increase!33%,she's got the goods on someone at city hall!I've got 28 years in my chosen profession,21 years at the same company.I've finally just cracked the 65k level, and I'm happy as a squirrel in a nut factory.
Ya gotta be kiddin' me!!!!
This is really outrageous!
Just when you think these bozos at city hall couldn't get any stupider.I guess their level of incompetance hasn't been reached yet.I want to know who is responsible for this unbelievable, moronic, outrageous decision. When is the next election? It can't get here soon enough! Can we impeach this boob?
Of all the idiotic,incomrehensible,,,,,

I've looked everywhere and can't find it.And also, how much longer do we have to endure Moe?
He and the other "stooges" have got to go.These politicians are out of their minds.60k,a 33% increase.
Please tell me their terms are almost up.Please,I can't take much more of these buffoons.

Good thing I was sitting down.I spun around in my chair so fast the wheels melted to the floor.
I think we finally have proof that aliens are indeed living amongst us.They have taken over city hall.
Before I read any more on this site I'm going into the kitchen, and wrapping my head in tin foil!
Higher intelligence, naw, just insidious, sly, slimy, creatures with an insatiable appetite for our tax dollars.

I wish Moe was my boss!!!In my 37 years of full time working the biggest increase I ever received was 15%.It's usually anywhere from 2-5%.This young woman must be able to perform miracles.I'll leave it at that.
I do believe I smell something rotten....Theres got to be much more to this story.

Thanks for your participation. Regarding your question about the next election:

5 of the 7 City Council members are up for re-election this November, 2009. They are:
-Ward 1, Ruth Gray
-Ward 2, Moe Romeo
-Ward 3, Ed Icove
-Ward 4, Jane Goodman
-Council At-Large, Robert Hartigan

Thanks for that information.Moe has got to go!Maybe a "MOES GOTTA GO" campaign is a possibility. If we "flush" the other 4 along with him, will the Mayor get the message?
We can only hope. They just don't get it.We are fed up with their antics.Of course, would their replacements be any better?
None of the people running for public offices seem to have any morals,or integrity. It seems we lose no matter who is in office. The "voice" of the people is largely ignored. We aren't intelligent enough to understand the complexity of the problems our leaders have to deal with. But we understand all to well, the problem is them.
To loosly quote Mayor Jackson,"..we know we have a problem,we know the solutions to the problem,we just haven't done anything about it..." kinda' says it all doesn't it???
Our only hope is to vote these clowns out every time an election comes around.Maybe, just maybe,we'll finally get some qualified people in the positions. If not,we are doomed....

I absolutly agree with fellow bloggers, these bafoons have to go!!! So are there any real "for the people" candidates out there willing to run against them, they seem to run unapposed every time. It's time for new blood.
Most of the people in this city do not realize these things are going on right under our noses.
I would love to get that kid of a raise...or any raise this year!!!! HMMMM, I smell a rat!

It is pretty sad that in our enonomy today many companies are freezing salaries, having layoffs, & are giving 10% salary reductions. This is only for the first quarter 2009. South Euclid is giving out raises. They should at least be frozen. Our taxes are significantly higher than other cities. I have just read recent housing inspections mailed out the first week of March 2009. It is kind of unnerving some of the minute violations (eg. clean moss off the roof)that houses need to rectify & yet our streets are deplorable. So now homeowners can pay out to fix "violations" but the city does not have to do the same.So we will have Nice Houses with poor street conditions & no curbs. What a combination if you are deciding to sell.Where are our priorities? Raises of 45,000 to 60,ooo for community director among all the others. But council is cutting home days.

If they tell me to pick moss off of my roof, I just might have to respond in not so nice way. Sorry, I have shade trees. Get a life.
