- Response from Economic Development Manager, Cal Caminati: "...I'm sorry but I really strongly believe as it relates to Liberty, I know Liberty caused a lot of wounds in that neighborhood. But I will tell you one thing- most of the wounds unfortunately, and I know you don't want to hear this, they were caused by the neighbors." He continues: "...And I'm gonna continue to promote 'em. I am going to continue to promote PURDS. It is the way to go- if the neighbors don't agree with me I'm sorry- that's my role, I see my role, I have a mandate from council, I have a mandate from the Mayor and we're gonna follow through on it!" ........Cal Caminati lives in Solon.

Why is a guy from Solon incharge of changing our neighborhood? What a joke!

mandate
A command or an expression of a desire, especially by a group of voters for a political program. Politicians elected in landslide victories often claim that their policies have received a mandate from the voters.
I believe Mr. Caminati should reference the definition of mandate above; eight elected officials do not constitute a mandate, at least not by the voting public. In case he has forgotten Mayor Welo was only elected by 300 or so votes over her opponent; again, not a landslide victory by any stretch. Perhaps, when city hall sends out door-to-door questionnaires about good neighborhood surveys, they could include a portion pertaining to whether the voting public wishes to have their common green wedges gobbled up to try to keep up with surrounding cities such as Richmond Heights or Lyndhurst. Emerald necklace indeed; the photos you have included in this blog, leave me feeling utterly sick to my stomach. The shot from above, makes me feel like the Native American in the old Television ad who gets a tear in his eye- when I think back to how Green and Anderson used to look. City hall loves to spout off on how green they are; perhaps they could pass a resolution decreeing that ALL SIDING, ROOFS AND CONCRETE MUST BE THE COLOR GREEN in all future PURDs. Of course they would have to declare this an emergency, as all of their legislation is labeled this way. In last weeks Sun Messenger, Mayor Welo & Ward 4 councilwoman Jane Goodman wrote letters praising all the actions taken at city hall. Mayor Welo speaks of important progress pertaining to “unique green space”; councilwoman Jane Goodman states that “South Euclid regularly receives Tree City USA growth awards.” Who on earth hands out such awards, and if they hand such an award to South Euclid next time they are doled out, then we know that such an award is WORTHLESS! Councilwoman Goodman finishes her letter by saying that “We as a city are in the digging and planting phase.” I find it hard to even take these officials seriously, but it is even harder to stomach the newspaper heading with councilwoman Goodman’s letter, and I quote SE officials planting seeds for greener city. What could they have possibly been thinking when they printed this? For this they have raised the price of the Messenger to 75cents. What has this world come to.
The Saying goes like this: fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
DON’T FORGET ELECTION DAY IS November, 6th
THIS YEAR LET’S NOT GET FOOLED AGAIN
A very concerned citizen
How could we have let this happen?
"They were caused by the neighbors"?.....WHAT?...Good! Isn't that what we should be doing?
Standing up!...Not rolling over? You can't fight city hall?...guess they were wrong. Keep up the fight.
Never ever give up!
I am outraged at the complete disregard Mr. Caminati shows for the residents and citizens of South Euclid. How can Mr. Caminati speak of the "neighbors" with such contempt? These "neighbors" are the very people that Mayor Welo and her appointees are supposed to represent.
IT'S TIME FOR A NEW ADMINISTRATION THAT CARES FOR IT'S CITIZENS!!!!
