Traffic Enforcement Cameras: Now Law

Ordinance: 34-09 was passed on April 26, 2010 by a vote of 6-0 (Romeo absent). The legislation was amended prior to passage. Red light cameras have been removed. An enforcement camera will be used to impose civil penalties for speeding through the use of a mobile trailer. Camera technology will also be used to enforce school bus safety issues.

SEO Update: Ordinance 19-10

Ordinance 19-10 is conspicuously absent from the City Council agenda for this Monday, April 26th. Is it possible that there is a purposeful delay in enacting the tax credit rollback until AFTER the election on May 4th which includes Issue 45 – the road levy?

Bottomless Pit & Deep Pockets

ORDINANCE: 19-10
“WHEREAS, the Council of the City of South Euclid, Ohio recognizes that the City is experiencing budgetary shortfalls effecting the financial stability of the City as a result of the national recession and housing crisis…”  pathetic decision making which has resulted in millions of dollars being squandered. So now, the Council of the City of South Euclid, Ohio in union with the Mayor and her Administration are going to take it out of the taxpayer’s hide...again.

Councilperson Jane Goodman made the following statement during a committee meeting on Monday, April 19, 2010.  This is the first time publicly that a city official has taken some responsibility for the colossal mistakes that have occurred:

“We screwed ourselves, pardon my French, but it’s time for plain speaking—with some expenditures—some loans that—some things that we did that put us in iffy financial positions…And I know that our citizens want to see us spend less if we’re going to ask them to contribute more.”

When will enough be enough?

They Must Be Kidding

The preceding two articles have misrepresented the track record of a potential candidate for the highest office in Cuyahoga County. Is it weak reporting devoid of fact checking, or is it collusion? Are the reporters merely taking dictation, or are they an integral part of the machine?

To peddle the notion of Mayor Georgine Welo being a strong chief executive is weak. Allowing Welo to portray herself as being apart from the current county regime is ridiculous.

Another laughable story-line floated in both versions of the “Welo is officially in the ring” articles, is the idea that Georgine Welo operates transparently. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Whatever the actual reason for the media’s delicate handling of Georgine Welo and the South Euclid Government, you can make a sure bet- it is not with the best interests of the county residents in mind.

A Call For Common Sense

The following photographs were taken on October 9, 2009. The location is the former Blonders store at Cedar Center.

Please click on the link to view an aerial photo of Cedar Center and Stanhope Road.  Blonders was located at the corner of Stanhope Road and Warrensville Center Road.

An interesting Cedar Center tidbit:
The documents below are from the 2007 Budget. It appears they indicate a bond that is still being paid until the year 2014. Apparently the money was borrowed for “improvements” to the Stanhope parking lot, which of course is no longer with us. The photos above show brand new concrete in front of the former Blonders location. It is unclear what year the money was originally borrowed, or how much work was done as part of the “Stanhope Road” improvements, including the parking lot.  Stanhope Road is the evasive label for Cedar Center.

It is an interesting concept if indeed this bond will not be retired until 2014 and the “improvements” to the Stanhope parking lot were demolished while still being paid for.
