Why, you ask? Just think about it. Homes in South Euclid are sporting those "for sale" signs left and right. The city is seeing $$$ in their greedy/beady little eyes. The rest, is elementary. The city wants to charge the homeowner for the inspection and then hit them with a long list of mandatory repairs. Charging for inspections = GREED. Long list of repairs = SPITE. Shame on South Euclid city government.
Time for residents to stand up to these morons. THIS NEEDS TO GO TO THE BALLOT!
How can you possibly expect homes built 75 years ago or more to conform to building codes in 2007? That is nothing but a freakin' joke and a way for the city to make money off of hard-working tax payers. I'll bet almost every house in South Euclid has knob and tube wiring somewhere in the structure. Under the POS inspection, NO house would pass.
We need to put some collective pressure on city hall to put this on a ballot and let the CITIZENS of this town make the decision.
How can we get the ball rolling on this?
Shaker Heights has POS inspections. So does Cleveland Heights. East Cleveland doesn't.
I support anything that'll ensure the future stability of South Euclid - and our property values. POS inspections seem like a small price to pay for that.
You are so off the track with thinking that POS will "ensure the future stability of South Euclid - and our property values." They already do inspections now and don't get any results. That is not the problem with the decline of SE. Crime and more crime. That's what will make it like E.Cleveland.
east cleveland doesnt do POS?
I just got off the phone with them they told me they do---
I also see this form on their site:
RU3pa7 Your blog is great. Articles is interesting!
drZNu7 You have a talant! Write more!
Please open your eyes and see the damage these POS inspections are doing. They drive the markets down, hold sellers hostage from selling, and in general are a poor idea.
Look a the Cities with POS inspections and look at how fast they are dropping in value and how many forclosures are a result of the POS.
East Cleveland looks horriable and they do have a POS inspection. They also can make you escrow funds for repairs. But it is at the a pick and choose method.
Thisnk about it. You have finacial trouble and you want to sell your house for market value or as a short sale. You go get the POS and the the City requires thousands n escrow. You are now trapped. You as a seller are trying to sell to get out of a jam. Buyers do not have 150% escrow to escrow and make repairs. They may have the repair money but not escrow and repair money. The programs that used to allow you to finace the escrow amount are not out there any more. These City officials are cluless. They are killimg there Cities. What we need to do is Vote these idiots out and force them to change these rules.
Besides that look at the privacy issues. Seller pays the City to enter there house and inspect it. What is this?
Look closely also. The Cities are very racialy motivated. I have done hundreds of these inspections and I will tell you they are alot harder on areas that are prodominetly minority.
Also want to point out the inspectors. Go to a POS one day and ask these guys so questions. They are cluless.
We all need to wake up and change these practices before our Cities are so bad it is to late.
This is all about greed and money.
