If Welo isn't cloaking herself in red, white, & blue, she's a going green.....kind of. Plain Dealer article is confusing......is the basin 64 yrs. old or built in 1964? I thought it was rebuilt much more recently. Not that it makes it great or anything.
Also the timing of this government funded project with the completion of the private medical building boardering to the east is interesting. She's a sweetheart ......deal!

This is a highly expensive way to increase the property values of the homes that border this area. It looks like a beautiful area. Too bad the people who paid for it won't be able to enjoy it.

I happen to live in the area that borders this watershed area. This is not something that will add any value to our homes. The area is virtually unseen from the street.Maybe if there were nature trails and some sort of public access, which would require a public parking area for visitors to park in...which would probably bring the traffic and undesireable people, such as you see hanging out in the Metroparks, and lower our property values....I'm just glad some of the cost for this project was covered by grants from the Ohio Public Works Dept. But the city still will pay $530,000,plus the loans(how much unknown)of the 1.2 million cost.
Doesn't it seem a little crazy that we allow areas that were already beautifull, wooded habitats, such as the Cutters Creek development, and Legacy Village to name a few,to be bulldozed, every tree cut down, shrub pulled, and streams diverted? Then pay millions of dollars to create a manmade "watershed".In an inaccesible area, that none of us will ever see,let alone know it even exists?
Is it too much to expect the people making these decisions to sit back and think about what they
are doing? To have a little foresight, planning, actually have a purpose, direction,a vision of the future,a future that really would give them a legacy if that's what they seek.Look at Squires Castle,Rockefeller gardens. Not point of sale inspections, not Wi-Fi in a park, and many other "pet" projects someone dreams up to appease the "politically" correct special interest groups.
It will never happen will it.
